Use Autark in Hermes.
Hermes is an agent that runs in a terminal, a desktop app, and on messaging platforms. It supports custom OpenAI-compatible providers through config, so Autark becomes a selectable provider alongside the built-in ones.
Add the provider
Add this to your Hermes config. The default profile reads ~/.hermes/config.yaml; other profiles read ~/.hermes/profiles/NAME/config.yaml.
providers:
autark:
base_url: https://api.autark.ai/v1
api_key: autark_sk_YOUR_KEY
models:
- autark-agent
- autark-pro
- autark-deep
- autark-agent-private
- autark-pro-private
- autark-deep-private
model:
provider: custom:autark
name: autark-agentDeclare the models list
Hermes can also discover models from /v1/models, but declaring them means the picker is correct even when discovery is unavailable, and it makes the available set explicit rather than dependent on a live probe.
Keep the key out of the config file
Use key_env if you keep secrets in the environment:
providers:
autark:
base_url: https://api.autark.ai/v1
key_env: AUTARK_API_KEYVerify it works:
hermes model
hermes -z "say hello" -m autark-agent --provider custom:autarkTroubleshooting
The provider does not appear in the picker
Check the config is in the right file. The default profile is ~/.hermes/config.yaml; other profiles are ~/.hermes/profiles/NAME/config.yaml. Restart the tool after editing.
It appears but the model list is empty
Add the explicit models: list shown above. Discovery from /v1/models can return nothing in some versions; the declared list is authoritative and always works.
404 on every request
The base URL is missing /v1. Autark's base URL is https://api.autark.ai/v1, not the bare host.
